A ShoSoft product · v1.0 · July 2026

Great with folders,
best with one file.

Pane Picture Viewer is a fast, private photo viewer for Windows that's useful the moment it's installed — browse the folders you already have, zoom, rotate, run slideshows. And when a set of pictures deserves to stay together, pack it into a single .pane file for Pane at its best: instant previews, the continuous strip, deep zoom, and a cover right in File Explorer. No ads, no accounts, no telemetry.

A Complete Viewer

Open a picture, arrow through its folder, zoom around the pointer, rotate losslessly, run a full-screen slideshow. Your pictures as they are — no conversion, no import.

When you're ready
One .pane File

Pack a folder — or a whole folder tree — into a single file with embedded thumbnails, fast previews, and every full-resolution picture.

What it unlocks
Pane at Its Best

Sets open instantly, the continuous strip glides through everything, deep zoom keeps enormous pictures sharp, and the cover shows up right in File Explorer.

The PANE format · optional by design

Picture sets, not picture piles.

PANE is ShoSoft's single-file format for sets of high-resolution pictures — where Pane's best features live. One folder in, one .pane file out, everything on your PC.

PACK

Create a set from the current folder — or convert a whole folder tree in one batch — from inside the app or straight from the File Explorer right-click menu.

BROWSE

Sets open instantly from embedded thumbnails and previews. Flip one picture at a time, or glide through a continuous horizontal strip that loops seamlessly.

UNPACK

Drag any picture out of a set to extract it, rename or remove pictures without unpacking, or unpack the whole set from File Explorer.

What's in the app

Eight things Pane does well.

The first four need nothing but the pictures you already have. The second four are why the .pane format exists.

Works on plain folders
01

The Everyday Viewer

Smooth pointer-centered zoom and pan, fit-to-window or actual size, and lossless JPEG rotation — browsing pictures in File Explorer sort order from a clean, distraction-free window. The full-screen slideshow brings shuffle, loop, speed controls, and multi-monitor support.

02

Built Into Windows

Pane works with the OS instead of around it: print through the Windows photo printing experience, share to compatible apps, save a copy, or set a picture as the desktop background. Make Pane the default app for any format it opens.

03

Covers That Count

Choose the picture that represents a folder or set in File Explorer — or, if the best part is only a detail, select a square region as the cover without cropping or changing the source photo.

04

Local. Period.

No ads, no account, no telemetry, and nothing is uploaded — your pictures stay on your PC. Recent-item history and preferences are stored locally and can be cleared or disabled. There is no key, activation, or periodic check.

PANE Image Sets

When a folder deserves to stay together, turn it into one .pane file — thumbnails, fast previews, and full-resolution pictures in a single container that opens instantly and travels as easily as one file ever does.

06

The Continuous Strip

Switch from one-at-a-time to a seamless horizontal strip and glide through the whole set in one smooth view — with detail-on-demand zoom, so even enormous pictures stay sharp without loading everything at once.

07

File Explorer, First-Class

.pane sets show their cover as a thumbnail. Right-click a folder to create a set (or one per subfolder), right-click a set to unpack it, and drag any picture out of the side pane to extract it at full quality.

08

Export and Unpack

Sets stay editable and reversible: rename or remove pictures inside a set without unpacking it, drag any picture out at full quality, unpack the whole thing from File Explorer, or export a print-friendly HTML contact sheet.

Buyer questions

Things people ask before paying.

Where can I buy it?
Direct sales open soon, on this page. Stripe will securely process the payment, and ShoSoft will fulfill the order by email with your signed Windows download. If you'd like a note when sales open, write to support@shosoftllc.com.
Is it really one-time?
Yes — $4.99 once. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no feature upsells.
How do downloads and v1.x updates work?
ShoSoft's order email contains a private link that continues to download the latest v1.x release included with your purchase. It does not expire merely because it gets old. If a link appears to be publicly shared, ShoSoft may pause it and send a replacement to the original purchase address.
Does it require a key or account?
No. Your purchase provides the complete app, and the installed application runs without a key, account, activation, or periodic internet check.
Do I have to use the .pane format?
No. Pane is a complete everyday viewer without it — browse any folder the moment it's installed, and make it your default viewer for the formats you use. The format is optional and fully reversible; it's simply where the best features live: instant-opening sets, the continuous strip, deep zoom, and covers in File Explorer.
What exactly is a .pane file?
A single file holding a whole set of pictures: an embedded thumbnail grid, a fast preview tier, and the full-resolution pictures. It opens instantly, shows a cover thumbnail in File Explorer, and as you zoom, Pane loads only the detail the screen needs.
Do I lose my originals?
No. Creating a set reads your folder and writes one new .pane file — it never deletes or alters your source pictures. Drag any picture out to extract it at full quality, or unpack the whole set from File Explorer.
HEIC, WebP, or camera RAW?
Yes — when the matching Windows codec is installed. The built-in formats (BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, ICO, JPEG XR) work out of the box, and you can set Pane as the default app for any of them.
Mac or Linux?
No. This release supports Windows 10 and 11; there is no announced macOS or Linux version.
